23andMe offers three shipping methods for orders within the United States: Standard, Expedited, and Express. Standard shipping costs $9.95 and takes 3-6 business days from the date of shipment. Expedited shipping costs $14.95 and takes 2-3 business days, while Express shipping costs $24.95 and takes 1-2 business days. Orders containing more than one kit enjoy discounted shipping costs. Each order comes with pre-paid return shipping supplies for each kit and detailed return instructions. The brand does not offer one-day or overnight return shipping options or expedited shipping to the lab. There is no information available on international shipping.

23andMe offers a standard refund policy for its customers. To receive a refund for an unused kit, customers must notify the company within thirty days of placing their order and confirm that they have not yet shipped their saliva sample to the laboratory. If a customer wants to request a refund on their entire order, they can complete an online form. Refunds will be issued to the same credit card used for the purchase and will be processed within 21 business days of confirmation by the Customer Care team that the conditions of the refund have been met. However, Health Upgrades from the Ancestry Service to the Health + Ancestry Service, Chip Upgrades, 23andMe+, and Ancestry Book purchases are non-refundable. Kits purchased at a conference or event are also non-refundable unless otherwise stated at the point of sale. For kits purchased from authorized third-party retailers, 23andMe will only refund the lab fee paid directly to the company. Customers should contact Customer Care if they want to refund part of a multiple kit order.
